SEPTEMBER 17-21, 2012


MONDAY - DAY 5 - COMPUTERS: READ NEW STORY AND STUDY H/F WORDS.  STUDY NEW SPELLING LIST (SHORT O WORDS) (PRACTICE TEST ON THURSDAY; RETEST ON FRIDAY).  DO MATH WORKSHEET 11B.

TUESDAY - DAY 1 - ART:  REREAD NEW STORY AND H/F WORDS.  STUDY SPELLING LIST.  DO MATH WORKSHEET 12B.  

WEDNESDAY - DAY 2 - GYM (REMEMBER SNEAKERS:   READ STORY AND H/F WORDS. STUDY FOR PRACTICE TEST.  DO MATH WORKSHEET 13B.

THURSDAY- DAY 3 - MUSIC:  READ STORY FOR TEST TOMORROW.  STUDY FOR SPELLING RETEST AND WRITE INCORRECT WORDS 5X EACH.  IF YOUR CHILD EARNED A 100 ON THE PRACTICE TEST, THEN S/HE WILL HAVE 20 MINUTES OF FREE TIME TOMORROW A.M. AND NO SPELLING HOMEWORK.  DO MATH WORKSHEET14B.

FRIDAY - DAY 4 - LIBRARY (REMEMBER LIBRARY BOOK) - FRIDAY FOLDERS COME HOME TODAY.  PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR CHILD'S PAPERS AND RETURN THE FOLDER ON MONDAY.


SORRY FOR THE UNDERLINING:  SEEMS HOMEWORK HELPLINE IS HAVING ISSUES TODAY (AREN'T WE ALL!!!)

PARENTS: THE CHILDREN'S READING TESTS ARE NOT BEING SENT HOME IN ANY OF THE FIRST GRADE CLASSROOMS, BUT, YOU CAN YOU VIEW THEIR TEST SCORES ON ESCHOOLBOOK.  THE READING STORY TEST WILL HAVE TWO SCORES-ONE FOR THE H/F WORDS AND ANOTHER FOR THE COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CALL OR E-MAIL ME, I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

THE CHILDREN ALL GOT A 100% ON THE H/F WORDS.  THE COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS ARE MORE DIFFICULT.  USUALLY THERE IS ONE OR TWO THAT SEEM "TRICKY" AND I HAVE FOUND THAT AS THE CHILDREN GET M0RE EXPERIENCE TAKING THE TESTS, THEY DO BETTER.  IT IS IMPORTANT TO DISCUSS THE STORY AS YOU READ IT AND TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS AND WHAT HAPPENS IN THE STORY.

THE CHILDREN'S GRADES TO DATE ARE EXCELLENT AND YOU WILL RECEIVE A MID-MARKING PERIOD PROGRESS REPORT SOON.
